Spring & Summer running on the mountain is exhilarating. Regardless of the
weather conditions, you will always find a few Striders on the mountain
every Saturday morning. (click the photos to see a larger view).

A sure sign
of warmer weather, the gate to the summit is open.
Spring &
summer running brings the warm days, sunny skies, and bugs! Black
flies in the spring and mosquitoes and deer flies throughout the summer can
be a annoyance.
Ticks are a possibility, but on the trails, away from the bushes, they are
not a big problem.
Bug spray, and a hat to keep the deer flies away will keep you happy. |

Blue Trail hikers will recognize this double blue blaze as a turn in the
Shenipsit Trail . This tree is right in the parking lot at the
entrance to the forest, and this turn takes you onto the trail around the
base of Soapstone Mountain. |

Spring brings
lots of mud to the forest. This section is one of the drier ones! |

The ice is
gone from the pond, and ducks are eyeing the wood duck house. Great
water view! |

Snow melt and
recent rains have the brooks running full. |
